Howell Farms watermelons are grown on plastic mulch in rich, Midwestern soil, providing the best flavor available.  Daily scouting is done during the growing season and strict adherence to EPA guidelines is observed at all times.

Both seedless and seeded watermelon are available from early August through September. Yellow watermelons are available from mid-August to early September. At harvest, melons are washed, sized and packed into bulk bins of the desired weight and quantity.  Both 2' and 3'  premium, heavyweight bins are available.  Four and Five count carton packaging maybe available in the late season upon special request.

Pumpkins are direct seeded in well- drained soil. Hybrid varieties are selected for their qualities consistent with maximum shelf-life and jack-o-lantern sales. Thick stems, consistent size and shape, and mildew resistance are also priorities. Pumpkins are sold by the pound or count with field pack semi-trailer loading preferred. Priority is given to packing in 40-count, 3' bins. Smaller quantities may be available with prior notice. Pricing is dependent upon quantities ordered, customer history and desired packaging. We are aware of the necessity for careful monitoring and tracking of crops grown on our farm due to food security issues, which unfortunately, have become more prominent in the past few years. We keep documentation for each crop in every field, recording the treatments it receives and its source at harvest and the destination to which it is shipped.
