Our Industry Involvement:

David’s industry involvement has expanded with his role as Vice-President of Indiana’s corn check-off administration, Indiana Corn Marketing Council.  He represents ICMC on the U.S. Grains Council and became more involved with the US Grains Council in 2009 when he was appointed to the Asia Advisory Team. In 2010, he was elected as chairman of the Asia A Team and in September of 2010 he traveled to China to assist in the USGC China Crop Tour.  The USGC is a private, non-profit, organization dedicated to building
export markets for barley, corn, sorghum, and their products.  The Council is headquartered in Washington, D.C. and has 10 international offices and active market development programs in more than 50 countries.  The USGC has six Advisory Teams.  These are Asia Programs, Biotechnology,
M
embership & Communications, Rest of World Programs, Trade Policy and Value-Added.  The Asia Advisory Team, of which David is Chairman, directs the Council’s activities in Japan, Taiwan, Malaysia, Indonesia, Viet Nam, China, South Korea, Philippines, and Thailand.  David is also a member of the USGC’s newly  organized Ag Ambassador Program which will be responsible for promoting the mission and image of the USGC to the public.

In July of 2010 David and Mary’s lifetime of service to the agriculture industry was recognized last summer when they were jointly named Master Farmers, an award sponsored by Indiana Prairie Farmer magazine and Purdue University School of Agriculture.  In the fall of 2010, David was appointed by Lieutenant Governor, Becky Skillman, to the Indiana State Department of Agriculture's Advisory Board.  Also, in December of 2010, he was appointed to the Chicago Federal Reserve Board’s committee on Agricultural, Small Business and Labor.

Adam was involved with an agricultural promotion called “Farmers Feed Us,” sponsored by The Center for Food Integrity.  The program offered people the chance to learn that the food that they enjoy everyday, whether from the grocery store or a restaurant, all originates from the same place, farms.  The promotion included a contest for participants to win a year of free groceries.  The Center For Food Integrity is a not for profit organization whose mission is, “To build consumer trust and confidence in today’s food system by sharing accurate, balanced information, correcting misinformation, modeling best practices and engaging stakeholders to address issues that are important to consumers.”
